So I had my first shopping challenge since I decided to minimalize.
Ulta. My home away from home. Basically the start page on my computer. I’m a platinum member, which you become when you spend at least $400 in a year. Platinum means more coupons and more deals, and becoming a platinum member for me felt like a huge accomplishment.
So this was a special situation. I had a 20% coupon off my entire purchase (no exclusions, whatsoever) PLUS 3x points on everything(points=money to take off future orders) PLUSSSSS 5x points on a makeup brand that I really love. In conclusion, a dream. It doesn’t happen often so when it does, I am bound to spend around $200.
After days of looking around on the website and adding & deducting stuff from my cart I ended up getting 3 things. I can’t remember the last time I got just 3 things when I ordered off Ulta. The total after the discount was $60.
Becca Backlight Priming Filter. Hands down the best primer I have ever used. It doesn’t have that silicony texture that feels like it’s just sitting on top of your face, and it gives such a nice glow. I bought this first about 6 months ago and just noticed that I’m getting close to the bottom so it definately felt like a good repurchase to get something I know I enjoy using.
Urban Decay Color Correcting Fluid. I’ve never used a product like this before but I do get some redness on my cheeks, and while that isn’t the end of the world I would like to try and even it out a bit on occasion.
Yup. That’s it. Pretty much 1/4 of what I usually get. And it feels great. I didn’t buy anything just because of the discount, I just bought things that I know I’m going to want/need in the near future. No eyeshadow palettes. Not 3 backups of dry shampoo. No “value gift sets”(I am weak for things sold in value sets).
Like I’ve mentioned in previous posts, makeup is a hobby of mine and I intend to keep it that way but I do want to be smarter and more mindful in my makeup purchases and I think this first run worked out really well!
